Using EconoVue’s advanced search capabilities, specialized business health indicators, and time-series data, the WDB was able to standardize a process of producing a quarterly report of businesses with increasing risk of contraction or failure, and then prioritize their engagement activity by business size, industry importance, and economic impact.
Identify those businesses with increased risk over the prior quarter, and prioritize their engagement efforts for the most effective impact. Succeed when businesses get the assistance they need – and grow.
PROGRAM GOAL: Source local businesses for ‘Buy Local’ initiative.
WDB NEED: Identify local businesses that could provide commodities & goods currently purchased from “out of county” vendors. The program’s goal was to shift County spending to local businesses to bolster the local economy.
Strong economies bolster a stronger workforce, and collaborative initiatives between economic programs and workforce development support innovative programs such as “Buy Local” initiatives. EconoVue’s deep data and agile user search abilities enable creativity and innovation across multi-departmental programs.
First, the workforce board internally created an AI-assisted crosswalk to translate commodities to NAICS codes. Next, the workforce board ran a custom NAICS search to identify local businesses in those sectors, AND that were either a Headquarters location or a Single Location business. Target and engage priority candidates for the new program.
ENGAGEMENT GOAL: Develop Business Clusters for Proactive Business Engagement to enable Business Service Team’s Outreach Strategies.
WDB NEED: Launch a ‘Business Walk’ engagement program for businesses on Main Street and the Manufacturing Corridor. Assign by a specific address, or corridor, or industry.

JOB FAIRS GOAL: Expanding Employer Participation for Monthly Reentry Job Fairs.
WDB NEED: Increase employer participation and hiring by identifying businesses open to fair chance hiring, with open positions, and close proximity to the job fair location.
By applying disciplined, repeatable search criteria to the monthly reentry job fair program—from fair-chance and open positions to geolocation-based searches—workforce boards can strengthen their outreach strategies. Moreover, they can increase employer participation. As a result, they can secure more job placements for people returning from incarceration.

WDB NEED: Identify local employers for Auto Technology program graduates.
