PROGRAM GOAL: Source local businesses for ‘Buy Local’ initiative.

WDB NEED: Identify local businesses that could provide commodities & goods currently purchased from “out of county” vendors. The program’s goal was to shift County spending to local businesses to bolster the local economy.

Strong economies bolster a stronger workforce, and collaborative initiatives between economic programs and workforce development support innovative programs such as “Buy Local” initiatives. First, the workforce board internally created an AI-assisted crosswalk to translate commodities to NAICS codes. Next, the workforce board ran a custom NAICS search to identify local businesses in those sectors, AND that were either a Headquarters location or a Single Location business. Target and engage priority candidates for the new program.

OUTREACH GOAL: Conduct Employer Outreach Campaign for Occupational Safety

WDB NEED: Proactively engage employers in high‑hazard agriculture, forestry, and farming industries and provide occupational safety resources, education, and support on workplace hazards and labor safety compliance.

Actionable employer data is essential to every successful business engagement. EconoVue not only supports workforce programs and economic development but also broader initiatives such as safety education and hazard prevention campaigns.

GRANT PROGRAM GOAL: Prioritize post-disaster business recovery support for disaster relief grant program

WDB NEED: Identify higher-risk small businesses in underserved areas impacted by the region’s catastrophic flooding to support hiring dislocated workers.
